This position will oversee and coordinate comprehensive health promotion initiatives aimed at fostering a culture of wellness, safety, and holistic wellbeing among TU's diverse student body. This position will provide leadership, program development, and supervision to a team dedicated to promoting healthy behaviors and preventing health risks within the campus community. The ideal candidate will have the ability to demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an ability to work with diverse populations as evidenced in their work history and experiences.Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.Responsibilities and DutiesLEADERSHIP/STRATEGYDevelop and implement a comprehensive plan for health promotion and prevention initiatives aligned with the university’s mission, goals and values.Collaborate with the Student Health and Wellbeing Team to advance a culture of health and wellbeing throughout the campus community.Collaborate with campus stakeholders to integrate health promotion and prevention principles into various aspects of university life including academic programs, student services, and campus policies.Serve as a core member of the Healthy Campus Taskforce.SUPERVISIONProvide direct supervision, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to key professional staff in the areas of recreation, health promotion and prevention, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, mental health outreach; strength building/resilience training/stress reduction; prevention of power-based violence (including of sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking); and health education appropriate to a university student population.Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment conducive to creativity, innovation, and excellence in program delivery.Delegate responsibilities, set clear performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback to staff members.PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATIONDesign, implement, and evaluate evidence-based health promotion and prevention programs and campaigns that address key health issues relevant to college students, such as mental health, substance use, sexual health, healthy relationships, nutrition, and physical activity, and that achieve measurable outcomes.Ensure programs are culturally competent, inclusive, and accessible to diverse student populations.Utilize data-driven approaches to assess need, program effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and make data-informed decisions.Create and provide data and reports to key campus stakeholders, as requested.Provide expert consultation on areas of health promotion and prevention to campus constituents.COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND PARTNERSHIPSCultivate and maintain partnerships with campus departments, student organizations, community agencies, and healthcare providers to enhance the reach and impact of health promotion and prevention efforts.Serve as a resource to campus stakeholders on best practices in health promotion and prevention.Represent Towson University in local, regional, and national networks focused on health promotion and prevention and student wellbeing.BUDGET AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENTDevelop and manage the budget for health promotion and prevention initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact and sustainability.Identify external funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and secure additional resources to support new initiatives and expansion of existing programs.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND TEAM CONTRIBUTIONSProactively stay current on related professional topics, best practices, and trends in health promotion, health prevention and overall student health and wellbeing; develop goals to implement and apply learning to practice. Contribute to office data collection and assessment by accurately recording engagement, programs, services, and all other relevant touchpoints with internal and external contacts. Actively participate in staff and team meetings; provide support as needed to the Student Health and Wellbeing team; and perform other duties as assigned that aid in the obtainment of the mission of the Division of Student Affairs.Qualifications and SkillsRequired:Master's degree in public health, health promotion, health education, social work, psychology, or a related field.At least 5 years of progressively responsible, relevant experience in one or more of the following settings: private or public healthcare system or public health program; or higher education health program, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs, preferably within a higher education setting.Strong understanding of evidence-based practices, behavior change theories, and health communication strategies.Commitment to a proactive student development perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines related to health promotion and prevention programming.Experience managing budgets, securing external funding, and engaging in strategic planning processes.Preferred:Doctorate in public health, health promotion, health education, health policy or a closely related field.Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) designations or eligible with intent to be certified.Grant writing skills.Salary and BenefitsTargeted Hiring Range is $95,000-$110,000 and full University benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 15 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.If you are motivated, innovative and team-oriented, we would love to hear from you.For consideration, please submit a cover letter and resume with your online application.This position will be open for a minimum of 14 days.Towson University is an Equal Opportunity Employer and has a strong institutional commitment to diversity.
