In this position, reporting to the Editorial Director, the Executive Editor will be tasked with strong, commercial acquisitions for the middle grade market, focusing on publishing strategies to acquire books that fill the varied needs of those readers. The editor should be acquiring at least 9 new titles per year in addition to editing approximately 15 titles per year.
Requirements:
- A keen understanding of the current market trends and the readers in that market, with a strong sense of understanding what types of books are needed and wanted for the wide 8-14 audience.
- An eye specifically toward commercial books that span a variety of genres this editor will also be looking to build franchises and series.
- At least 10 years' experience in the children's book market, strong ties to agents and authors and the ability to work quickly to meet market trends.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
