Job Description
THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE THAT WILL REQUIRE PERIODIC IN-OFFICE ATTENDANCE.
The User Experience (UX) Researcher plays a strategic role in planning, conducting, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research to create useful, usable, and desirable digital experiences for our customers, partners, and employees. The incumbent possesses expert knowledge of UX research techniques and UX/UI design principles. They will work closely with users, the UX team, and key stakeholders to understand user needs, preferences, and pain points to support the evolution of digital products.
The incumbent will be responsible for leading planning and execution efforts of various UX research methods including user interviews, usability testing, card sorting, surveys, and field studies. They identify research patterns and trends from the data and collaborate on insights, findings presentations, personas, journey maps, etc. This individual will lead UX strategy with their designer peers to influence product strategy and roadmaps based on insights identified and drive UX success measurement implementation. They will mentor other researchers on UX research best practices and approaches to enhance product and team success. Their efforts will contribute to delivering high-quality research to support digital products and services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive user research strategies aligned with business goals and product roadmaps in collaboration with designers, product teams, and key stakeholders.
- Own research activities, including strategy, planning, execution, and reporting. Create standard and custom research plans fitting scope, time, and needs.
- Conduct a variety of generative and evaluative UX research to understand user needs, pain points, behaviors, and attitudes using quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Analyze research data to identify patterns and trends, generating actionable insights and recommendations.
- Create clear, concise, and influential research reports and presentations to communicate insights effectively to stakeholders.
- Design and facilitate workshops with stakeholders and end users to document user information, generate ideas, and co-create future visions.
- Work with designers to craft personas, journey maps, experience maps, and service blueprints from research findings.
- Collaborate with researchers, designers, product owners, and stakeholders to integrate research findings into product development.
- Lead efforts to standardize research documentation processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility of data across studies.
- Create plans for ongoing product success measurement, leveraging user input through data collection and analysis.
- Utilize and maintain a portfolio of customer insight tools including survey platforms, user research tools, analytics, and A/B testing tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in design, business, Computer Science, psychology, anthropology, or human-computer interaction, or at least 9 years of experience in designing digital user interfaces and experiences in lieu of degree.
- 6-8 years of experience conducting UX research.
- 6+ years working with internal clients or external agencies/partners.
- 5+ years of experience presenting research findings to stakeholders.
- Experience with UX research methodologies such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and field studies integrated into user-centered design processes.
- Strong expertise in research and design research, with business acumen and familiarity with software solutions.
- Experience with research tools like User Testing, Dovetail, Google Analytics, Glassbox, etc.
- Technical knowledge combined with business intelligence skills to understand and empathize with customer needs.
Additional Information
The pay rate for this role at the specified location is $50-80/hour. Compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, call-in, and standby pay.
