Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced AI UX Designer (Explainability + Human-AI Interaction) to lead the creation of transparent, explainable, and psychologically aware interfaces for AI-powered systems. In this role, you will translate complex machine learning outputs into intuitive, trust-building user experiences that promote responsible adoption and confident decision-making.
You'll collaborate closely with product teams, legal and compliance stakeholders, and AI engineers to align design patterns with emerging governance frameworks and user needs. This position blends design thinking, cognitive psychology, and technical understanding to deliver experiences that are not only compliant—but deeply human.
Key Responsibilities
- Design explainable user interfaces that improve transparency, trust, and comprehension in AI systems
- Apply psychology-informed principles such as cognitive load management, behavior-guiding cues, and perception-based layout strategies
- Develop user flows, dashboards, and onboarding experiences that minimize friction and support responsible AI use
- Translate AI governance requirements (e.g., EU AI Act, ISO/IEC 42001) into usable design patterns and policy-aligned interaction models
- Collaborate across legal, product, and engineering teams to ensure designs reflect ethical, explainable AI practices
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate designs, especially around clarity, trust, and decision confidence
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, including for neurodiverse users and users with varying digital literacy
- Support design documentation, explainability overlays, and transparency-focused UX components for enterprise platforms
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, Cognitive Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing UX for AI/ML products or complex data-driven systems
- Strong portfolio showcasing explainable design, trust-centric interactions, and interface clarity
- Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, Miro)
- Understanding of model explainability tools and frameworks (e.g., SHAP, LIME, model cards)
- Experience applying concepts such as visual hierarchy, progressive disclosure, and behavioral feedback loops
- Knowledge of global AI governance frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, OECD AI Principles, ISO/IEC 42001)
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with legal, compliance, and technical teams
Required Certifications
- Certified Ethical Emerging Technologist (CEET)
- Human Factors Certification (e.g., CHFP or CPE)
- Data Visualization or Information Design Certification - Such as Tableau Desktop Specialist or Nielsen Norman's Visual Design for Data, supporting the creation of clear, interpretable AI outputs.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience designing interfaces for regulated commercial industries such as healthcare, finance, or SaaS compliance
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1), inclusive design, and Section 508 compliance
- Experience translating policy or governance into usable interface patterns
- Background in human-in-the-loop systems, emotional design, or AI adoption strategies
- Familiarity with product-led growth, customer enablement, or digital transformation programs
Preferred Certifications
- Certified UX Designer (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group, Human Factors International)
- Certified AI Practitioner (CAIP) or Responsible AI certification
- Accessibility certifications (e.g., CPACC, WAS)
- Cloud fundamentals (e.g., AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure Fundamentals)
