Overview
Teledyne Brown Engineering in Knoxville, TN manufactures a large Xenon Detector primarily for the US Air Force used to detect nuclear activity in the field. They are looking for someone to come in to redesign and modernize a model of this project. Solidworks Electrical will be used for this work. This will be 3D design work and is projected to be 6 months worth of work. Depending on the candidate's skillset, there are multiple other projects that they can assist with to potentially extend the contract or add more work. Responsibilities: - Design major segments of complex subsystems. - Create 3-D models of parts and assemblies to develop a subsystem layout. - Prepare production drawings based on these models. - Apply knowledge of materials, finishes, welding, and other manufacturing processes to drawings. - Participate in design reviews. - Work closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel to ensure that all aspects of the design are understood. - Serve as liaison with operations during fabrication of parts to ensure that all design issues are resolved and drawings are updated. - Perform tolerance analysis on mating parts to ensure proper fit. Apply knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to designs. - Technically direct work and check drawings of lower-level drafters. Provide expertise in CAD software for specific problem-solving on a project. - Be available daily, including evenings and weekends when necessary, to reach goals/deadlines.
Hard Skills
Proficient in Solidworks (able to import manufacturing parts, create assemblies, create assembly drawings)
Preferred: Proficient in Solidworks Electrical
Experience modeling power distribution and low-voltage DC panels for industrial automation
Soft Skills
Ability to work closely with engineers and manufacturing personnel
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent technical direction and leadership abilities
Job Type
This is a contract position with a duration of 6 Month(s).
Work Site
This is a fully on-site position in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Work Environment
Clean, temperature-controlled environment. Work schedule consists of four 9-hour days and a half-day on the fifth day.
