Position Purpose
We are seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join our nature center team. This role plays a key part in the nature center's communications effort to connect with our community, create a sense of belonging, and use community insights to drive programming strategy
Position PurposeTo assist Nature Center Director & Assistant Director in promoting programs & events, creating community engagement materials, and assisting with event planning to ensure successful operation of Majestic View Nature Center services
Please Note:This is a variable-hour, non-benefited position. Scheduled to work 10 hours/weekEssential Functions / Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Essential Job Functions:Assist with the development of content for weekly internal newsletter, monthly volunteer newsletters, and bimonthly to the broader communityCreate engaging and shareable content for the website, newsletters, press releases, ads, and social mediaCreate and design promotional materials such as flyers, invitations, postcards, etc. formarketing and public relation campaignsMonitor and report on community KPIs, such as web traffic, attendance and social media dataAssist in the planning, coordination, and execution of community events and engagement campaignsCreate and design campaign materials such as flyers, invitations, postcards, etc.Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong writing and editing skillsKnowledge of graphic design principlesKnowledge of social media trends and best practicesUnderstanding of naturalist interpretation standardsMust demonstrate strong organizational, time management, and project management skills; must be able to meet deadlinesQualifications - Working Environment / Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 1-year experience working in environmental community-building, communications, or marketingPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Nonprofit or municipal experience preferred

The City of Arvada does not offer benefits to temporary and/or seasonal employees. Temporary, Variable Hour and Health Plan Eligible employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum cap of 48 hours.
