We are seeking a part-time marketing and communications specialist with creative graphic design skills to join our team. The specialist will implement the majority of our communications and marketing efforts, working under the direction of the Executive Director and in partnership with the clergy and the staff of the Early Childhood Program and Religious School.They will develop and institute coordinated marketing, design best practices, and effectively communicate about programs and other events to our membership and the community at-large, for example: creating flyers, producing our weekly emails, producing our quarterly bulletin, posting on social media, and updating our website.This person will be responsible for creating visually appealing and engaging designs and marketing tools that help to promote our synagogue, nursery school, religious school, public and private events, classes and programs. They will need to interact with professional and volunteer staff to ensure timely delivery of content. The ideal candidate will also look to identify opportunities to highlight our activities in local media and to advertise our offerings via social and traditional media.This job is part-time, with flexible hours. We prefer a candidate who can work onsite, at least part of the time (hybrid), but it is possible to do the majority or even all of the job remotely.Duties and Responsibilities:Implement the organization's communications and social media strategy inclusive of Email, web site, print media, digital signage, and social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, etc).Collaborate with synagogue staff to develop marketing materials across multiple platforms, maintaining brand consistency and highlighting the strength of our programs.Work with staff and clergy to create print and digital materials for use in ritual and life cycle events (e.g. - naming certificates, prayer books, etc.).Manage the content creation and design for the organization's web site, weekly newsletters and other emails, social media accounts, quarterly bulletin, postcards, and press releases, including collecting content, creating pieces and promoting TEPV within brand guidelines.Update and enhance the organization's websites on the organization’s platform.Utilize email and social media tracking metrics to determine effectiveness.Maintain a calendar for marketing and advertising for all events and experiences, including print, website, email blasts, social media promotion efforts and personalized emails, and execute according to that calendar. Assure that deadlines are met.Ensure digital accessibility in all communications and web site using best practices.Coordinate with staff to assure that non shabbat/holiday events are photographed and that photos and videos are appropriately utilized in communications.Organize and manage photo and video archives.Required Experience:
Any combination of education or experience that meets the following qualifications:Two or more years of experience in a professional or academic role using graphic design, communications, and marketing skills.Proficient in web site content management, Microsoft Office, email marketing platforms, graphics design and publication design software (Canva, InDesign, Illustrator, or similar programs).Experience managing organizational social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and X; familiarity with social media norms and trends.Demonstrated creative and innovative design skills.Reliability to meet deadlines and help others to do so.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Attention to detail; ability to catch off-brand, grammatical and spelling errors, and inaccessible elements of a drafted communication or post and correct them.Knowledge of Jewish culture, holidays, and rituals as practiced in the Conservative movement, and command of basic Hebrew phrases commonly used in synagogue life.The following are highly desired but not required:Commitment to digital accessibility and eagerness to learn digital accessibility best practices.Experience in ShulCloud is helpful, but not required (you will be trained since this is an important part of this position).Ability to type basic Hebrew words.Hours:This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. In-person, hybrid, or remote. We would also consider a free-lance contractor on an hourly basis.Flexible hours, up to 20 per week.
