Overview:
The Senior Medical Copy Editor will be the lead editor on multiple brands, with expertise in their brands' science, competitors, client style, and AMA style. They will model core values such as substance, style, conviction, and grace, and mentor less experienced Copy Editors. The role requires attention to detail and collaboration with Account and Project Management teams to ensure high-quality work within deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Lead copy editing on multiple brands
- Copyedit, fact-check, and proofread promotional and educational materials for physicians, healthcare professionals, and patients from manuscript to print or digital production
- Collaborate with Account Services, Copywriters, Art Directors, and other team members to ensure accuracy, clarity, and appeal of materials
- Coordinate with Account Services and Project Managers on project timelines
- Mentor less experienced Copy Editors
- Assist Copywriters and Account teams with research and article retrieval
- Create and maintain brand style guides
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Three to five years’ copyediting experience in pharmaceutical advertising, in-house agency, or medical publishing (considering other fields)
- Knowledge of AMA Manual of Style, 10th edition preferred
- Experience with Adobe Acrobat for copyediting is a plus
