Overview and Responsibilities CBS News is seeking an executive producer to oversee a daily politics program and serve as the point person for its Washington, D.The executive producer will work with a show team, anchor, politics editors, correspondents in D.Responsibilities include setting the daily agenda, leading the hour-long live weekday politics program, and developing original, newsworthy angles that resonate with a broad audience.
Responsibilities Build a comprehensive and visually compelling news block for the top of the show.
Lead a team to produce an hour-long daily politics program, including writing intros, tags, and questions.
Coordinate with booking producers and DC editorial producers to secure newsmakers for live interviews.
Deliver a lineup of correspondent segments and live interviews for daily programming across the streaming network.
Attend daily politics meetings and develop original story angles with the politics team.
Serve as the key contact during breaking news in the bureau.
Mentor, develop, and train a team of producers.
Work flexible hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and unpredictable hours.
Basic Qualifications 10+ years producing live segments and taped programming, with recent experience in a national newsroom or top local market.
7+ years as a show producer in a live control room.
Additional Qualifications Proven success in breaking news environments, producing impactful journalism under tight deadlines.
Experience structuring live interviews that deliver new information clearly and compellingly.
Leadership experience in building and leading diverse teams.
Deep knowledge of politics and storytelling that conveys its impact beyond the beltway.
