About the Role:
Sherpa 6 is seeking a highly skilled Network SME (Tactical Radio) / Technical Project Manager to lead the execution of a cutting-edge defense program in support of the U.S. Army's Integrated Visual Augmentation System (IVAS). This individual will combine deep technical knowledge of tactical networks with proven project management expertise to deliver integrated, mission-ready solutions that enhance Soldier effectiveness and situational awareness.
This dual-role position requires a leader capable of hands-on network design and integration, project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and customer-focused support-all within the scope of IVAS.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership & Network Integration (IVAS-Focused)
- Provide advanced network integration support for live and virtual integrated tactical networks as part of IVAS.
- Lead configuration, optimization, and security of tactical radio systems (RF, MANET), cloud integration, and mission command solutions.
- Oversee system configuration, including firewalls, routing, and switching, in IVAS-aligned environments.
- Administer and maintain Linux and other server systems.
- Identify network improvements down to the Configuration Item (CI) level and support rigorous configuration management.
- Translate system capabilities and technical challenges clearly to non-technical stakeholders, including government and military leadership.
- Stay updated on military, government, and commercial technologies related to C4ISR and how they support IVAS.
- Aid in integrating new tactical systems, ensuring compatibility for IVAS demonstrations, testing, and deployment.
- Configure wideband and narrowband handheld radios used within the IVAS ecosystem.
- Serve as project lead for IVAS-related workstreams, ensuring delivery aligns with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop and maintain Estimates at Completion (EACs) and manage project performance metrics.
- Coordinate travel and logistics for assigned team members; approve TARs and track deliverables.
- Conduct risk assessments and lead mitigation planning for technical and schedule-related issues.
- Conduct and document After Action Reviews (AARs) to support continuous improvement of IVAS fielding and integration events.
- Support acquisition management and fielding syncs in coordination with the IVAS program office.
- Plan and manage team goals, schedules, new equipment integration tasks, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Prepare, manage, and brief documentation such as CONOPs, QLSB, and SIF Reports for IVAS initiatives.
- Oversee the integration and support of IVAS-related technologies such as ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, CIVTAK, and the Watchtower platform.
- Provide guidance on validating, testing, and integrating new technologies into the IVAS framework.
- Develop strong relationships with end users, capturing and resolving feedback and technical issues.
- Act as the central point of contact for system adoption support, field integration success, and documentation.
- Identify discrepancies, anomalies, and defects in products evaluated for IVAS use.
- Conduct new equipment training on IVAS-assigned products and provide context for their use and capability.
- Engage with senior government stakeholders, industry partners, academia, and internal teams to ensure strong alignment and transparency.
- Coordinate with SL-CFT, ASA, PMs, APMs, and the broader IVAS ecosystem to support system integration and success.
- Support business development through contract reviews, pricing strategies, and proposal contributions.
- Forecast funding needs and support budget planning and alignment with long-term IVAS goals.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent military/DoD experience).
- 10+ years' experience supporting DoD tactical networks, including RF, LAN/WAN, and MANET systems.
- Deep understanding of Army ITN architecture, tactical cloud platforms, UAS integration, and IVAS fielding strategies.
- Proven experience leading technical projects and cross-functional teams.
- Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret eligibility preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of the NettWarrior ecosystem and ATAK/TAK tools.
- PMP, DAWIA, or similar project management certification.
- Experience in government procurement or RDT&E environments.
- Familiarity with Azure or AWS-based tactical cloud environments.
- Military background or understanding of standard operating procedures and TTPs.
- Knowledgeable of tactical networks and tactical communication systems.
- Flexible and able to adapt in a dynamic environment.
Salary Range:
The proposed salary range is reflective across all Sherpa 6 locations, years of experience and skill levels. Salary negotiations will be based on a host of factors including but not limited to your geographic location, prior experience, relevant skills, education, and certifications.

Salary negotiations and final offer amounts are based on candidate location, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses and credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed.
