About More Than Words
MTW is a nonprofit social enterprise that empowers youth, ages 16-24, who are in the foster care system, court involved, homeless, or out of school to take charge of their lives by taking charge of a business. MTW offers job training opportunities and transition support services to equip youth with first-hand experience working as a team to operate retail and online businesses and to develop the tools to enable them to make progress around education, employment and life goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Digital Marketing
Regularly attends business team meetings (Retail, Events, Mobile, etc.) to gather information, discuss marketing support, and integrate strategies into social media, e-blasts, and other communications.Creates, maintains, and implements engaging content calendars for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Leads MTW in assessing ROI and exploring content for video platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms.Manages social media platform communication and engagement, responding to inquiries, comments and active engagement on content from like organizations in support of our mission.Creates, maintains, and implements a calendar of e-blasts to our listserv, typically one per week, including promotions of upcoming events and sales.Supports opportunities and spaces that elevate youth voices and engagement in marketing, with a particular focus on youth-written newsletter and potential involvement in leading marketing shifts.Brand Management and Communications
Designs flyers, brochures, event invites, PPTs, Eventbrite headers, and other collateral needed by staff across the organization using Canva or other affordable design platform and maintains brand integrity in communications.Collaborates in organization-wide efforts to ensure strategic and sensitive storytelling for youth with a racial equity lens in all materials and platforms.Flexibly collaborate as part of the marketing structure by participating in and supporting planning and execution of meetings, events, email outreach, and public-facing opportunities to support community engagement as well as business and development goals.OUTLINES OF THE POSITION
Schedule is typically M-F with a need for flexibility to attend occasional weekend or evening organizational events a must.The hourly rate for this position is $22.00 per hour, with a maximum of 29 hours per week.The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Marketing.This is a 6-month position, with the potential to renew for an additional 6-month period after evaluating at the end of the initial term.POSITION REQUIREMENTS
You must have a GED or High School DiplomaYou must be consistently moving towards educational outcomesYou must have transitioned from MTW at least 2 years prior to apply for this positionYou must be at least 21 years of ageYou must be able to follow through on commitmentsCovid-19 vaccination and booster or qualifying exemptionADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS
Ability to work in a fast-paced, feedback-centered environment and manage multiple deadlines/priorities.Direct prior experience in marketing and/or communications brand management, professional writing, and/or media relations is a plus.Professional or academic experience with graphic design, photography, and/or video editing preferred.
