Sony Honda Mobility of America Inc, based in Culver City, CA, is a subsidiary of Sony Honda Mobility Inc headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. As a 50/50 joint venture between Sony and Honda, SHM was established in Japan on September 28th, 2022, with over 200 employees in Tokyo. Sony Honda Mobility of America, situated in Culver City, California, was established in March 2023, where our dedicated team is working on introducing the electric vehicle, AFEELA, to the market. Position Summary
Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking a talented and creative Graphic Designer to join the Design and Brand Strategy team at our Culver City, CA office (Sony Pictures Studio Lot). This role will transition to our new Southern California Delivery Center in Torrance, CA upon its completion in Fall 2025.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and maintaining the AFEELA brand identity by designing high-quality creative materials for both digital and print platforms. Bilingual proficiency in both English and Japanese is required, as you will collaborate closely with internal teams in the U.S. and SHMA's headquarters in Japan.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in branding, concept creation, corporate design, and production, with experience delivering creative solutions that align with business goals and brand standards.
Job Responsibilities
Design and produce creative assets for corporate initiatives and communications, including digital, print, and marketing materials.
Support the Art Director in developing design concepts and ensuring high-quality execution of deliverables.
Manage projects from concept to delivery, ensuring that all design goals, brand standards, and deadlines are met.
Present design work to internal teams, partners, and stakeholders clearly and effectively in both English and Japanese.
Ensure brand consistency by providing oversight and support to maintain compliance with AFEELA brand guidelines.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to coordinate design deliverables and ensure successful project execution.
Work closely with Art Directors and designers in SHMA's headquarters in Tokyo to align on global design standards and creative direction.
Oversee the pre-press process with print vendors to ensure accurate color and production quality.
Apply strategic and conceptual thinking to graphic design projects involving branding, typography, color, iconography, and digital illustration.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Stay current with industry trends and best practices in graphic design, branding, and user-centered design.
Qualifications for Position
Required Bilingual proficiency in both English and Japanese (ability to read, write, and speak fluently in both languages).
Bachelor's degree in Design, Graphic Design, or a related field.
5+ years of professional experience in graphic design or a related field.
Strong expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
Experience working in a MacOS environment.
Strong understanding of corporate design and brand guidelines.
Proficiency in design for both print and digital platforms.
Excellent knowledge of graphics, communications, and production terminology.
Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Experience managing the pre-press setup process with print vendors.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present creative ideas to stakeholders.
Self-motivated problem solver with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Experience in strategic and conceptual graphic design involving branding, typography, iconography, and color.
Understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices.
Experience with digital illustration and motion graphics.
Familiarity with connected car technology and design standards.
Experience in graphic/branding design for events or retail environments.
Portfolio Requirement A digital portfolio (website or PDF) showcasing design expertise, creative thinking, and a strong understanding of branding and corporate design is required.
Additional Details Location Transition: Initially based in Culver City, CA (Sony Pictures Studio Lot), then moving to Torrance, CA once the Southern California Delivery Center is completed in Fall 2025.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required to coordinate with internal and external design teams.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $110,000-$130,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
