General Summary & Scope

The Specialty Artist - MAC is responsible for maximizing sales in the MAC brand (including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs, assisting guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise, and maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. They represent the image, products, and culture of Ulta Beauty and the MAC brand to the Ulta Beauty guest and support the Experience Manager (EM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires professional caliber makeup artistry skills, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

As a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, the Specialty Artist - MAC performs duties such as:

Performance

• Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omni-channel, and retail shrink.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through active contact and follow-up.
• Provide exceptional service, including personalized makeup applications, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations.
• Complete skill certification requirements and stay informed about industry trends and product benefits.
• Support in-store events and promotions to enhance guest experience and sales.
• Maintain prompt attendance and store standards.

People

• Support an inclusive environment and share product knowledge with guests and team members.
• Maintain an active clientele portfolio for MAC sales.
• Participate in ongoing training and collaborate with team members to grow the business.

Process

• Adhere to company policies, dress code, and hygiene standards.
• Keep the work area replenished and maintained.
• Participate in merchandise resets, inventory, and other operational tasks.
• Follow loss prevention practices and protect company assets.

Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma preferred; cosmetology or demonstrator license required where law mandates.

Experience: Cosmetics artistry experience preferred.

Skills: Strong sales, product knowledge, customer relationship skills, teamwork, communication, and ability to handle guest concerns in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Requirements

• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Participation in brand training and events.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility, standing, bending, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
• Ability to perform physical tasks during shifts.
