Overview
Through consistent and engaged collaboration with parish clergy, staff, and key volunteers, the Communications Coordinator facilitates the collection and distribution of high-quality pastoral print and media content that clearly communicates parish life, mission, and values. Key responsibilities include oversight of the weekly printed bulletin, website, social media accounts, and livestreaming operations. This position also serves as the primary parish liaison in the areas of digital and print media, telecommunications, and public relations. The Pastoral Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Rector of the Cathedral and works at the Pastoral Office, which is located at the Cathedral property on 307 Congress Street in Portland.
The position is full time, non-exempt (32-40 hours/wk). The wage starts at $19.23 an hour, based on experience and skill, and includes full benefits.
Qualifications:
Relevant bachelor’s degree preferred. Experience in website design and maintenance, livestreaming, social media outreach, and graphic design required. Proficiency in and/or ability to learn Microsoft Office software, Adobe Design Suite required. The successful candidate should be a skilled writer, creative thinker, have a sharp eye for aesthetics, and enjoy connecting with other people in meaningful and collaborative ways. He or she must also be a practicing Roman Catholic who understands and enthusiastically supports the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church in word and deed.
About the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes:
The Roman Catholic community on the Portland Peninsula and Islands is comprised of five parishes: The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish, St. Peter’s Parish, St. Louis Parish, and St. Christopher Parish. These parishes are served by a team of priests and staff, who collaborate with volunteers and other organizations to guide and support the ongoing life and ministry of a community of over 4,000 Catholics in the greater Portland area.
