The ideal Stepping Stones teacher possesses a strong background in special education, classroom management, innovative instruction, and curriculum implementation.
Stepping Stones is looking for a tuneful, compassionate music therapist to provide music therapy sessions to assigned students, including evaluations, treatment plans, and session plans with developmental and academic standards in place. The position can be either full or part-time.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid Georgia certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Georgia Music Therapy license.
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a valid GA Music Teacher certification K-12 Georgia PSC Clearance.
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- Be knowledgeable in instructional strategies.
- Have excellent classroom management skills.
- Possess strong organizational skills.
- Demonstrate appropriate rapport with children, parents/caregivers, and colleagues.
- Have knowledge of basic first aid methods and techniques for positioning and moving physically challenged students.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain and provide daily documentation through data within domain areas in the Student Success Plan.
- Integrate appropriate technology into music therapy sessions.
- Promote a positive classroom environment through well-delivered therapeutic interventions.
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans written with developmental and academic standards in place.
- Provide large-group and small-group instruction.
- Communicate responsibly with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership; hold conferences, place phone calls, and send written communications.
- Follow professional ethics in all work-related activities.
- Prepare adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
- Work with parents/guardians in all aspects of the student’s educational program.
- Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours.
- Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
Physical Demands Include:
- Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds and above with assistance.
- Ability to lift and carry 5-30 pounds unassisted.
- Push or pull 30 pounds and above.
- May require stooping or crouching.
- Assist with diapering, catheterization, lifting, positioning, tube feeding, and assist with eating and toileting.
