Job Description
Required Certificates and Licenses: North Carolina Teaching Certification with a Music Endorsement.
Residency Requirements: Must reside in North Carolina.
The High School Music Teacher is a highly qualified, state-certified educator responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. Teachers provide instruction, support, and guidance, manage the learning process, and focus on students’ individual needs. They monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system and work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to achieve learning goals. Teachers typically work from home but may travel occasionally for school functions, such as state testing.
Position Details
This position is for the 2025/2026 school year. It is a full-time role, typically requiring 40+ hours per week, working independently during standard school hours (e.g., 8-5 or 9-5). Teachers must maintain a professional home office environment.
Essential Functions
- Provide engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.
- Personalize learning for all students and differentiate instruction based on mastery levels.
- Use appropriate tools to augment courses under guidance from administrators.
- Maintain accurate grade books and monitor student performance.
- Prepare students for standardized tests.
- Establish positive rapport with families and communicate regularly.
- Support parents/learning coaches with instructional and technical issues.
- Travel approximately once per month for professional development and testing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Active state teaching license with a Music Endorsement.
- Ability to pass background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with online learning platforms and teaching the proposed age group.
- Experience supporting adults and children with technology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and maintain certification.
