Grand Canyon University’s College of Arts and Media (cu.edu/college-of-arts-and-media) is looking for a Faculty - Audio Production. An exploratory spirit who will help lead the faculty in the refinement of existing programs and coordinate with high-tech industry partners to develop new courses and programs to launch talented graduates. The Faculty - Audio Production will be responsible for instruction of the technical aspects of sound design and production in student theatrical, film, and musical performances within the College.What you will do:Classroom Instruction:+ Teaches undergraduate courses or graduate courses within the requisite discipline meeting the required course load requirements.+ Develops and provides instruction that incorporates current teaching methodologies, technologies and other trends that reflect advances in the requisite discipline educational instruction.+ Engages students within classroom to stimulate discussions for collective learning .Assists students outside classroom hours and actively mentors students.+ Incorporates relevant research resources and experiential activities to support course objectives, lectures and learning outcomes.+ Develops and administers forward thinking short and long term learning plans for students’ development and growth+ Assist with curriculum design and development; be a sound advocate for change to programs, curriculum and teaching methodologies/pedagogies.+ Engages regularly in professional development activities+ Participates actively in college or university committees for advancing the overall educational mission of the university.+ Assists college administration in developing internal and external communities that promote the Colleges academic programs/majors.Practical Instruction:+ Collaborating with directors, musicians, music directors to implement sound design concept+ Operating sound equipment during rehearsals and performances+ Training student sound assistants in the operation of sound equipment+ Maintain and troubleshooting sound equipment+ Teaching how to mic actors, performers, musicians and setting sound levels+ Creating and implementing sound effects+ Recording performances when required+ Working with student performers and engineers+ Other duties as assigned.What you will need:+ Masters in Sound Recording/Audio engineering or Bachelors degree with 5 years of professional experience in live sound audio, live event audio production, or recording audio+ 6-10 years of professional experience with audio in performing arts venues and live performance settings.+ Minimum two years’ teaching at collegiate level required or extensive industry knowledge may be substituted based upon the dean’s approval.+ Specialized knowledge of discipline areas may be required.+ Evidence of involvement in one’s professional area (e.g., membership in professional organizations, presentations, research and/or publications).+ Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.Bonus:+ Pro tools Avid Instructor CertificationWhy work at GCU:+ Exceptional workplace benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, a 401K savings plan+ Generous time off plan and 11 paid holidays+ Paid time off to volunteer in the community or at GCU sponsored events+ Free covered parking+ We also offer full-time employees, their spouses, and dependent children an Education Tuition Discount Program+ Free on-site gyms on campusApplication InstructionsPlease click on the link below to apply for this position.
