Grants Writer
for a
Civil Rights Organization.
This position is based in
Chicago, IL (Medical District).
This is a
Full-Time, Hybrid, Temporary-to-Permanent
opportunity.
ORGANIZATION: Civil Rights Organization
LOCATION: Chicago (Medical District)
POSITION TITLE: Grants Writer
SCHEDULE: Full Time (35 hrs./wk.); Hybrid (2 days/week in office)
DURATION: Temporary-to-Permanent
PAY RATE: Temp ($30-34/hr. DOE): As a permanent employee, the anticipated salary range would be $66,000-74,000/ yr. plus benefits

The Grants Writer will support the Grants Manager in managing and coordinating the research, cultivation, writing, and submission of federal, state, and local government and foundation and corporate grants, which includes overseeing the Grant's calendar for the organization.
Our Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor's degree preferredFive years of grant writing or professional writing experience, preferably in a non-profit environmentProficiency with MS Office- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TeamsExperience with Raiser's Edge/CRM management preferredAbility to translate research data into an easy-to-understand formatExceptional interpersonal skillsWriting sample requiredHow You Will Spend Your Day:
Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to convey seemingly complicated projects in a compelling and persuasive mannerWrite, prepare, and submit public/governmental grant proposals, reports, letters of inquiry, and other related correspondence, with a major emphasis on public and private grant submissionsKnowledge of Chicago's philanthropic community and understanding of current funding trendsIdentify and research public/governmental individual, corporate, foundation, and other funding opportunitiesStrong project management skills. Ability to manage complete deadline packages from start to finish, coordinating all submission requirementsMaintain a calendar of applications, reporting, and other key dates to ensure timely completion and submission of applications and reportsOutstanding organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure and against deadlinesUpdate and maintain a database containing information on external funders and prospectsExpand the pool of public/governmental grant prospects to ensure a continuous revenue streamAttend meetings of project teams, funders/potential funders, and partnering organizationsParticipate in the development of short-term and long-term fundraising planningAssist in managing and cultivating relationships with external fundersPrepare team members for meetings with external fundersSecure foundation and corporate support for annual eventsAssist with other grant writing and projectsOther duties as assigned
