We are currently seeking a Design Manager to join our team in our Tempe, Arizona office.
Essential Functions
- Using SFP's Design Review Form, review and verify designs and calculations before submission.
- Assign projects to designers based on workload demand and maintain the design calendar.
- Ensure that field checks are completed and that projects are listed for materials accurately and on time.
- Participate in design kick-off and WPR meetings.
- Coordinate with the SFP technology manager to maintain design systems and software.
- Help coordinate material delivery to job sites.
- Assist sales/estimating personnel in estimating design hours for bids.
- Support design personnel in preparation for NICET tests and correspondence courses.
- Train designers and design trainees in all applicable aspects of fire protection design.
- Maintain design department supplies.
- Design automatic sprinkler systems including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems using knowledge of fire sprinkler codes.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
- Review all design employees' work per company policy.
- Understand and follow SFP's Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Minimum Requirements
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Designer/Layout Technician or in a related occupation, including:
- 10 years of experience using AutoCAD, SprinkCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other fire sprinkler design software;
- 10 years of experience in construction industry design, including reading and creating blueprints (architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil);
- 10 years of experience performing hydraulic systems analysis;
- 5 years of experience using Building Information Modeling (BIM) with NavisWorks or Revit Design Coordination Software;
- Valid NICET Level IV Certification in Water-Based Fire Sprinkler Layout.
Candidates must be able to comply with SFP's Drug and Alcohol Policy and Background screening. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
