Transylvania County Schools seeks a Public Information Officer and Grant Writer. The position is available starting July 1, 2025. It is a full-time role with employment benefits and a 12-month employment term. Interested candidates should submit an online application. Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in a relevant field (such as English, journalism, marketing, communications, or related fields). Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and problem-solving skills. Prior experience in communications and/or marketing in a professional setting is strongly preferred.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Researching grant programs
- Completing and submitting funding applications
- Coordinating and leading activities of grant/loan programs supporting school district improvement projects and other grant programs for the district
- Constructing press releases and other widely distributed written communications
- Knowledge and experience with web publishing/design, social media, and virtual communication methods
- Photography and videography skills
- Ability to work with various stakeholders with a customer-service focus; maintaining and building strong partnerships
- Developing, implementing, and managing a strategic communications and marketing plan to maintain a positive image and enhance the school system's brand
