Responsibilities:
Create complex designs, concepts and layouts based on master-level knowledge of design principles, production, and layout.Prepare concepts from conception to completion with finished copy and art.Collaborate with Graphic Designer(s), Art Director(s) and Account Manager(s) and related roles to define assets, information, copy, etc. included in finished pieces.Design complex layouts of art and copy arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts based on branded guidelines.Compose mailings, ads, newsletters, collateral materials and more to meet campaign and/or account goals and objectives.Collaborate with Art Director(s), Account Manager(s) or clients for final proof reviews, make suggested adjustments and prepare final pieces for production.Mark up, paste and assemble final layouts in preparation for Production Team delivery.Submit finished pieces to Art Director(s) for return workflow back to Account Managers and clients, sometimes working more directly when applicable.Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, printers, etc. when applicable; keeping up with printing procedures.Guide, give direction, and help grow intermediate graphic designers and/or junior graphic designers; lead projects when warranted.Participate in continuing education to include attending workshops, reading publications, and learning new concepts in design and job-related software and tools to stay current and up to date in the industry.Maintain a master-level knowledge of design principle, production, and layout; enhancing knowledge of new methods, techniques, web and multimedia software and applications to stay cutting edge in the industry.Understand and know when to best utilize specific design and marketing elements including photography, illustration, and verbal and written communication in marketing pieces based on medium.Attend special team meetings, educational sessions and assist leadership in ongoing training of team members as asked.Utilize office computer and office equipment (copier, fax, etc.) along with a host of other software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator and Adobe Creative Cloud and subsequent project management and related technology and design tools.Assist the Marketing Team in their overall initiatives as requested, contributing to the team effort by accomplishing related tasks as called upon.All other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities:
Customarily and regularly directs the work of two or more full-time employees or the equivalent and has the authority to make decisions regarding the hiring, firing, and promotion of these direct reports.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in graphic design and six (6) years related graphic design experience and/or training; or ten (10) years equivalent combination of education and/or experience.Experience or education working in print graphic design and/or newsprint industry is preferred.Must have a strong understanding of the print production process to design and prepare files that print, fold, trim and bind correctly.Must have a strong working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, Adobe Creative Cloud, and the Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Outlook
