Primary Purpose Of Position
The Exhibit Designer performs creative design and production work in exhibit, graphic, signage, and digital design. This position works with the exhibit development team and strategizes planning and design, assists with problem solving for repairs, renovation, and improvements to existing exhibits throughout the Museum, and assists with evolution efforts for the organization.
This position reports to the Senior Exhibit Designer.
Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Exhibit and environment design for permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibits.
- Presenting and articulating design concepts and intent to exhibit team, staff, and both internal and external stakeholders.
- Creating graphic design for exhibits, Museum programs, events, educational graphics, digital media, 3D components, signage, and wayfinding/building signage.
- Performing all steps of graphic production including file preparation, layout, wide-format printing, laminating, mounting graphics, and installation.
- Ensuring all exhibits are inclusive and accessible to visitors of all ages and abilities, meeting, and exceeding ADA guidelines.
- Maintaining, repairing, and cleaning museum exhibits and signage.
- Maintaining and troubleshooting graphics equipment including the printer and laminator and assisting with stocking graphic and printer supplies and materials.
- Must have the ability to climb and work on a ladder with or without reasonable accommodation as a part of mounting and installation of graphic exhibit components
- Must be available to work the schedule of Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.
