Depending on the needs of the project, we operate as a hybrid-remote studio, allowing our developers the flexibility to crush milestone goals at the studio or within the comfort of their own home.
This is a full-time hybrid position based in Austin, TX, with an onsite requirement of three days per week.
The salary range being considered for this role is $81,000-$96,000. The specified salary range pertains to Southern California, and the actual amounts may differ based on experience, performance, and location. These salary ranges do not apply to locations outside the United States.
UI Artist at BSG…
Supported by the Senior UI Artist and project Leads, you will collaborate on intuitive systems and synthesize complex design features into practical in-game interfaces that incorporate the project's visual style.
Role and Responsibilities
- Work alongside both senior and junior UI artists to help define the overall UI aesthetic
- Create polished user interfaces that encompass the project's visual style and reinforce gameplay
- Prototype and refine UI art elements for in-game with high consideration for consistency, visual art principles, and a user-centric mindset
- Assist in the development of icons, new screen art mocks, and interpreting visual look and feel for new features
- Generate original frontend content, heads up displays, and other core menus
- Collaborate cross-functionally in the implementation of UI components, such as maps, buttons, HUD, menus, basic effects, and animations
- Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned to help complete company or department objectives
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Art or equivalent work experience
- 1 – 2+ years of experience in visual design or video game development
- Credited in at least one shipped AAA video game title as a UI Artist
- Experience with both console (Xbox, Playstation) and PC
- Familiarity working in an Agile development environment
Preferred Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite
- Experience creating motion graphics using Flash, Nuke, or After Effects
- Strong graphic design and layout sense
- Understanding of user centric UX design
- Skilled in identifying and accommodating end-user needs
- Experienced in translating written concepts into visual designs
- Demonstrated understanding of the limitations of consoles, memory, and performance issues
- Well-versed in giving and receiving professional critiques
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Passionate about games and game development
- Pride in everything you create and an aptitude for problem-solving
- Maintain a positive attitude in a highly collaborative and iterative team environment
Pluses
- Game engine experience, such as UE3, UE4, CryEngine+, Unity, or proprietary engines
- Knowledge of one 3D package
- Deep understanding of what makes MMO UI art unique
- Understanding of how shader networks improve UI
- Scripting or programming experience, such as HTML5, CSS, or Actionscript 3.0
- Experience in 3D, FX, or similar specializations
- Website front-end experience
- Familiarity using Jira and Confluence
- Experience with Perforce
