Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Master’s in Studio Art preferred.

Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Visual Arts department is seeking to hire an Art Studio Technician. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
- Maintains specialized equipment in art studios, including but not limited to printmaking and ceramics studios.
- Handles chemicals for the use in printmaking, photography, and ceramics studios.
- Ensures all studios are complying with Safety & Environmental regulations, including but not limited to the eye-washing stations and chemical disposal.
- Gives art demonstrations and helps students learn to use specialized equipment and chemicals safely in the studio space.
- Ensures studios are clean and organized for class use.
- Reports any needed repairs, chemicals, safety gear or other products needed to maintain the art studios to the department chair and secretary.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
