As the
Event Planner (P2)
you will plan and execute events for the College of Science Dean's Office and subsidiary groups - including Student Success programs, Recruiting, and other events as directed by the Chief Operating Officer in support of the dean and associate deans. You will consult with these Science Administration clients to determine event objectives and requirements. Design programs, exhibits, coordinate facilities and vendors, create and manage budgets, develop and execute marketing plans, and handle registration processes. Monitor all aspects of the event to ensure adherence to university policies and procedures, and compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
As the
Senior Event Planner (P3)
you will be Under limited supervision from the College of Science's Chief Operating Officer, plan and execute events for the College of Science Dean's Office and subsidiary groups - including Student Success programs, Recruiting, and other events in support of the dean and associate deans. You will collaborate with these Science Administration clients to determine event objectives and requirements. Design programs, exhibits, coordinate facilities and vendors, create and manage budgets, develop and execute marketing plans, and handle registration processes. Monitor all aspects of the event to ensure adherence to university policies and procedures, and compliance with applicable regulations and laws.
This is a dual level posting where the hiring manager will determine level commensurate with the candidate's experience and education.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience Needed:For the Event Planner (P2) you will need the following:Bachelor's degreeTwo (2) to three (3) years of experience in event planning, conference coordination, or hospitality managementA combination of related education and experience will be considered including associate's degree and four (4) years of experienceFor the Event Planner (P3) you will need the above and the following:
Bachelor's degreeFour (4) to five (5) years of experience in event planning, conference coordination, or hospitality managementA combination of related education and experience will also be consideredSkills Needed:For the P2 and the P3 level you will need the following:
Excellent verbal and written communication skillsCapable of articulating the strategic mission of Purdue University and the College of ScienceMust be detail-oriented and able to effectively balance concurrent projectsMust demonstrate strong planning/organizational, problem-solving, project management, customer relations, and critical thinking skillsMust be able to work under pressure and with frequent interruptions while maintaining the highest standards of professionalismExperience with budget management and vendor procurementProficiency in event management software and tools and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levelsThis position requires the flexibility to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessaryAdditional Information:
