General Information:
The College of Integrated Science and Engineering (CISE) seeks a skilled and creative student photographer to join our team for the 2024-25 academic year.
This position is vital in capturing high-quality images that represent and promote CISE programs, experiences, and events, fostering excitement among prospective students, the community, and external organizations. As a photographer, you’ll work on a variety of projects, including—but not limited to—events, photo shoots, portraits, and promotional materials. This is an exciting opportunity to build your portfolio and gain practical experience while showcasing your talent, creativity, and passion for photography—making a meaningful impact through visual storytelling.
HoursApproximately 7-10 hours per week with flexible scheduling. Some evenings and weekends are required to cover events.
*This employment opportunity may be compatible with the internship expectations of the SMAD Program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create visually stunning and engaging photographs that reflect the vibrancy of the CISE community and uphold the JMU brand.• Cover a variety of events and sessions to ensure all aspects are captured through photography.• Edit and enhance photos using Adobe Photoshop or similar software to maintain high-quality standards.• Utilize metadata to categorize and organize images effectively.• Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm new photography concepts and ideas.• Maintain and organize photography equipment to ensure functionality and longevity.• Effectively manage time and meet deadlines, even while working remotely.• Utilize a project management system to ensure efficient workflow.
Qualifications:
• Proficient in photography techniques, including composition, lighting, and framing• Creative and innovative mindset with a passion for storytelling through visuals• Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects effectively• Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter with the initiative to take on tasks independently, while also thriving in collaborative team environments• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both independently and in a team setting.• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or similar photo editing software• Enthusiasm for science, technology, and engineering preferred
This is an excellent opportunity for a student photographer to gain hands-on experience and build their portfolio.

Conditions of Employment:
Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
