General Job Description:
ABC57 in South Bend, Indiana, is seeking an experienced Evening Anchor to join our award-winning news team. The storyteller we are looking for is a personable and versatile communicator with exceptional anchoring, reporting and writing skills for all of our platforms. You also need to be able to develop a strong connection with Michiana viewers both over the air and in person. The ideal candidate will want to grow and become the most recognized face in Michiana. We are looking for someone with local ties to Michiana who wants to turn this opportunity into a long-term career.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ability to anchor hours of news coverage from the desk and field
Needs to be a strong newsroom leader
Research and report current events happening in the local community, as well as state, national and international regions.
Develop and maintain sources that will generate exclusive story content and news reports
Evaluates news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
Long-form story reporting
Ability to take criticism well
Reporting, as assigned, contributing to our website and social media platforms.
Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements:
At least 3 years of anchoring experience preferred and a degree in Journalism or related field required.
Ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet deadlines
Strong leadership abilities.
Strong news judgment.
Ability to engage audiences on all platforms.
Passionate about covering local news.
Excels in live coverage, field anchoring, investigative, and special project development.
