Position Description:
The Hite Institute of Art + Design at the University of Louisville invites applications for a Design and Photography Area Technician.
The technician will maintain all aspects of care for, maintenance of, and ordering for Canon Print Lab, the Design Computer Lab, the Dark Rooms, and Design classrooms in Schneider Hall, the BAB, and any future design spaces. Support professors in the classrooms, esp. for large laboratory days and tech-heavy lessons, and act as supervisor for all Work Study Students in the photo and design areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and computer technology on both Mac and PC platforms.
- Project management experience
- Computer hardware and software management experience
- Multiple printer technology dexterity
- Strong tech support skills
- This job requires lifting packages for large printers, computers, and enlargers. Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud, experience managing a large print shop, and experience managing darkroom and photography equipment.
- Classroom-based skills are a plus

The Hite Institute of Art and Design is an endowed department within the College of Arts and Sciences with a rich history dating back to 1937. It encompasses 20 full-time faculty members, a dedicated staff of four, and a diverse community of approximately 400 undergraduate and
graduate students majoring in studio art, art history, graphic design, interior design, and critical & curatorial studies.
