The NYC Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) protects and enhances the daily economic lives of New Yorkers to create thriving communities. DCWP licenses more than 45,000 businesses in over 40 industries and enforces key consumer protection, licensing, and workplace laws that apply to many more. By supporting businesses through equitable enforcement and providing resources, and by resolving complaints, DCWP safeguards the marketplace from predatory practices and promotes a culture of compliance. Through community outreach and the work of its Financial Empowerment and Labor Policy & Standards offices, DCWP empowers consumers and working families with tools and resources to become educated consumers and achieve financial health and work-life balance. The Communications & Marketing Division promotes the Agency’s work through multimedia channels to reach NYC’s diverse communities.
The Community Producer reports to the Digital Communications Director. Responsibilities include:
- Developing engaging content, including videos, to inform the public about DCWP’s programs and services;
- Coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders to understand community needs and content strategies;
- Attending and recording community events and public meetings to build relationships and gather insights for culturally relevant content;
- Providing audience-specific marketing and outreach materials for digital projects, website, social media, and multimedia presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree and two years of community work or related activities; or
- High school diploma and six years of relevant experience; or
- Equivalent education/experience, with at least one year of experience as described above.
Preferred Skills
- Strong storytelling ability for diverse audiences.
- Project management skills for video production.
- Knowledge of camera operation, lighting, sound, video formats.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and quick learning of new tech.
- Motion graphic skills a plus.
- Understanding of design and accessibility standards.
- Knowledge of social media trends and digital outreach.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
