Job Summary
We are looking for a head of corporate marketing who can understand and communicate the challenges facing networking and security communities; educate, increase awareness, and build brand through compelling storytelling; lead and grow a global marketing communications team to drive Versa’s reputation and brand; create a data-driven marketing strategy that is focused on outcomes aligned to our corporate strategy; and position Versa as a highly valued public company. This position reports to the CMO.
Responsibilities
Own strategy and execution of global reputation, design and branding initiatives, public relations, and communications programs, including:
- Branding
- Own the development and execution of Versa’s brand and communications strategy
- Use Versa’s high level company narrative as the foundation to build a unique and highly visible brand with prospects, customers, analysts and investors
- Establish a brand index to measure awareness, with relevant KPIs, assessing Versa’s brand’s contribution to growth.
- Create and maintain an annual baseline for Versa’s share-of-voice, and provide visibility into Versa’s ranking in the industry for all relevant KPIs
- Engage influencers to amplify the Versa brand presence and position.
- Media relations
- Lead the media relations strategy and execution
- Own and communicate the Versa story for external audiences
- Manage a team of external PR agencies
- Drive response to breaking news stories
- Train and coach Versa spokespeople
- Website and creative
- Manage creative, website and design teams.
- Partner with Demand Gen to optimize SEO and website conversion
- Content strategy
- Oversee Versa’s content strategy and roadmap across all audiences
- Source and coordinate delivery of content from multiple internal and external resources, including Versa’s marketing and PR writers, technical team, and Versa executives
- Drive Versa’s thought leadership via social media, contributed articles, speaking opportunities, and more.
- Own and manage the Versa “speakers bureau”, including acquiring high visibility speaking opportunities across both industry and business channels
- Work with stakeholders to drive the most creative and differentiated expression of the company via the website, blogs, publications, and media.
- Stay on top of industry best practices, trends and technology, and bring innovative solutions to address brand challenges.
- Internal communications
- Proactively drive internal employee awareness and adoption of relevant content and programs.
- Analyst relations
- Manage and coordinate analyst relations activities to drive 3rd party validation and increased advocacy for Versa
- Customer advocacy
- Own and manage Versa’s customers advocacy initiatives, including the Versatility customer conference and Customer Advisory Board program
- Lead the customer marketing and lifecycle communications team and programs. This includes case studies, videos, ratings/reviews, references, referrals, quote database, logo database, customer community and events, with content and campaigns that support each stage of the customer lifecycle journey from awareness to adoption, retention, expansion and advocacy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Proven track record with 10+ years in a senior marketing role, with a preference for experience in the cybersecurity, networking or related technology industry.
- Experience with late-stage, venture-funded companies is highly desired.
- Demonstrated history of developing and executing successful communications strategies
- Strong understanding of effective PR and media relations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range of $250,000 to $310,000. A candidate’s specific pay within this range will depend on a variety of factors, including job-related skills, training, location, experience, relevant education, certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
