VTG is seeking a Proposals Technical Writer located in Virginia Beach, VA.
Overview
The Proposals Technical Writer writes and edits complex material for customer reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, working primarily for Federal customers.
What will you do?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Write, review and edit materials for customer proposals, primarily for the US Government DOD, including:
- Technical, management and past performance proposals
- White papers
- Requirements and other technical documentation
- Upcoming contract proposals and bids including IDIQ type contracts.

- Proven program and project experience interpreting statements of work (SOW), work breakdown structure (WBS), and estimate development
- Must possess superb organization skills, detail orientation, and ability to work in a fast paced work environment
- High level analytical and creative problem solving skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, assimilate information, and draw conclusions
- Ability to perform sophisticated quantitative analyses that translate into actionable insights
- Success using statistical techniques to model complex relationships among business variables
- Superior research and problem-solving skills founded on analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and strong business judgment
- Ability to analyze large databases, develop models to inform business decisions, and communicate methodology and insights to non-technical audiences
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Adept at planning and organizing and identifying priorities and changing same when appropriate
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field, plus six (6) years' experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Mathematical Skills:
- Intermediate – high: ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of algebra, plane and solid geometry, and trigonometry; calculate formulae, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and finance and accounting software such as CostPoint. Position requires knowledge of enterprise resources planning systems and techniques; working knowledge of network and operating systems, server technologies and programs such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Earned Value Management, Microsoft SQL, and Visual Basic.
