As our Collection Development Librarian, you will oversee the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of library materials to ensure a well-rounded collection that supports the needs of our patrons. You’ll be responsible for ordering, processing, cataloging, and weeding materials, managing donations, and maintaining collection records in the catalog database. This role is critical in shaping our library’s offerings to provide relevant, high-quality resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Select and order materials for the Adult, Audio-Visual, Reference, and Archive collections.
Oversee cataloging, ensuring accurate bibliographic records in the SHARE system.
Manage the weeding process, withdrawing outdated or damaged materials.
Process incoming materials, including covering, stamping, and applying security strips.
Maintain statistical reports on circulation and collection trends.
Coordinate displays and exhibits within the library.
Conduct annual inventory of the library’s collections.
Handle vendor communication regarding damaged items and order discrepancies.
Stay informed of local and national trends affecting library collections.
Work collaboratively with library leadership on hiring and training for the department.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science required. Strong organizational and planning skills. Familiarity with print and digital library materials. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience supervising staff and managing budgets. Proficiency in Microsoft 365, cataloging software, and online databases. Ability to lift 20-25 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull loaded book carts.
Salary & Schedule:
Starting wage: $51,168/year, commensurate with education and experience.
