Job Description POSITION SUMMARY Glass Roots Construction (GRC), founded in 2022 by telecom and construction professionals, seeks a Project Manager to help us grow. GRC aims to leverage the latest technologies and industry-standard equipment, construction, and safety practices to establish a leading nationwide fiber optic construction firm. The successful candidate must be skilled in data management, logistics, and operations, eager to learn and grow, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. This position reports to the Vice President of Engineering and offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team and gain valuable experience as GRC expands. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Senior Design and Drafting Manager oversees fiber optic design and CAD drafting teams/standards, requiring expertise in FTTx design and proficiency in AutoCAD. Key responsibilities include: Manage and train drafters on design and drafting standards. Review and complete high- and low-level FTTx designs. Ensure quality of engineering deliverables and products. Ensure timely project completion to build client trust and avoid penalties. Manage project budgets by estimating costs and minimizing unnecessary expenses. Collaborate with the project manager to oversee project success, adhering to engineering practices. Manage internal and external drafting teams to maintain quality and consistency. Oversee OCALC load calculations (PLA) for quality and timeliness. Coordinate BOM splice matrices and program management. Create CAD and engineering templates to ensure quality, varying by geography. Coordinate with construction teams for up-to-date reporting. Support Engineering PM in communicating engineering information to construction teams. Assist the VP of Engineering with project milestones like surveys, permit submissions, and approvals. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Minimum 8 years’ experience in FTTx design. Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Excel, OCALC, and Google products. Experience in aerial and underground fiber optic infrastructure across various geographies. Understanding of utility construction processes and terminology. Experience with GIS practices. Strong technical and business knowledge in telecom. Proven project management, operations, or business management experience. Effective leadership and communication skills for managing drafting teams. Organizational skills to manage daily job allocations and project planning. Ability to identify risks and develop proactive solutions. Financial budgeting skills. Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. SKILLS Strong data entry and engineering design background. Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience with process documentation and continuous improvement. Proficiency with Google Suite, Zoho, and project management tools. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Valid driver’s license. 4-year degree, military experience, or at least 8 years of relevant work experience.
