Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an exciting opportunity for a team-oriented individual to fill the role of US Creative Lead for Wahl Professional at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, Illinois.
The US Creative Lead is responsible for managing, designing, and delivering marketing communication materials against the design needs of the brand, including digital, social, print, retail, tradeshows, and website. This role will report to the US Marketing Lead and oversees the creative team in the creation of assets that represent and elevate the brand.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for translating regional marketing objectives into creative strategies, concepts and designs.
- Manage graphic and motion design for both electronic and print communications including website development, print collateral development, trade shows, mailers, email, infographics, social, and digital advertising.
- Write engaging and persuasive headlines, product descriptions and collateral for all regional consumer communications.
- Contribute to the development of compelling copy that differentiates the Wahl Professional brand and stays true to the brand voice and attributes.
- Follow Global Brand design guidance to ensure all regional work meets design standards and expectations.
- Manage the regional creative team through multiple projects from concept to completion under tight deadlines and budget constraints.
- Support the brand marketing and media teams to generate ideas for effective, results-driven creative marketing concepts.
- Research, identify and share current design trends and competitive reviews as they relate to the brand.
- Demonstrate strong aesthetic skills with the ability to combine various design disciplines (color theory, typography, contrast, balance, repetition, alignment, etc.) to create high-value campaigns.
- Provide quality control including proofing, reviewing, measuring, and evaluating creative output performance.
- Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence, and accountability.
- Research and quote projects while adhering to budgets set forth by stakeholders.
- Assist in photoshoot art direction and scheduling, and image retouching.
LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide clear creative direction and timely feedback to improve creative processes to keep work on budget and schedule.
- Manage junior designers to ensure all work produced meets client briefs.
- Mentor junior team members to ensure progression and improvement.
- Build a strong culture of accountability and performance.
- Recruit, develop, and retain top performers.
- Create and implement an effective onboarding plan for every team member.
- Set clear expectations for all Team Members.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in a creative development role.
- 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring creative teams.
- A full portfolio demonstrating work in print, web design, motion graphics, social, and other forms of media is a must.
- Demonstrated expertise in layout, graphic design, typography, print design, brand development, interactive design, user-centered experience design, marketing, and the creative process.
- Experience managing campaign development with internal and external teams.
- Expert at presenting ideas in all group sizes, both internally and externally.
- Strong knowledge of 360 campaign development and creative process.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for brilliant copy and beautiful design.
- Instinct to lead with vision and creative inspiration.
- Comfortable estimating and scoping projects.
- Experience and understanding of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Suite (incl. After Effects), MS Word, PPT, and Excel.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects while maintaining a clear sense of priorities.
