Job Overview:
Junior Achievement of Southern California (JA) is seeking a Marketing and Social Media Coordinator (MSMC) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating and editing original content (photos and videos) for various social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. This role involves writing compelling copy and captions that align with our brand voice for different audiences, maintaining a social media calendar, working cross-functionally to execute campaigns, and tracking social media performance to provide actionable insights. The MSMC must be extremely personable and professional with internal and external constituents.
Additional responsibilities include supporting marketing projects and maintaining a system for organizing and tracking file management (photo, video, collateral). The successful candidate will have a proven track record in content creation, an understanding of digital marketing principles and social media management tools, and be proficient in content creation. They will need to be reliable, proactive, creative, a self-starter, exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, manage a rapid flow of work, and communicate effectively and transparently to provide direct support to the Sr. Director of Marketing and Integrated Communications.
This is a full-time in-office position. Some evenings, weekends, and attendance at after-hour events to capture live content for social media platforms will occasionally be required.
Primary Responsibilities
Organization and Project Management for Marketing and Communications:
Organize and report on progress of tasks, details, communications, project plans, and project calendars to support the Sr Director.
Oversee ongoing development, execution, scheduling, management, and measurement of Social Media campaigns across social media channels.
Develop and manage existing and new social media strategies and initiatives to increase reach, engagement, and follower growth.
Maintain and curate a well-organized repository of marketing assets, with brand guidelines and resources.
Creative / Content Creation:
Capture, edit, collect, and organize video and photo content (Instagram Stories, TikToks, and overall knowledge of video editing software).
Assist in building and maintaining a system for organizing and tracking file management (photo, video, collateral).
Responsible for design, creative, editorial, administrative, and fundraising functions.
Collaborate with internal teams to develop and distribute marketing materials.
Assist in creating and proofreading marketing content, including blog posts, newsletters, and press releases.
Organize and coordinate marketing and communication projects and outreach details.
Support the marketing department in preparing reports and managing marketing calendars.
Create, design, size, edit and complete new projects and routine updates for digital assets.
Assist staff in writing, layout, and design of other materials as needed.
Social Media Management:
Develop and manage social media calendar, including outreach and awareness goals.
Collaborate with the programs team to ensure all funder social posting requirements are met.
Create and activate social media posts per the calendar.
Develop, create and execute content plans for various social media platforms.
Engage with influencers and cultivate follower relationships.
Monitor trending topics and create engaging organic video content.
Website Maintenance:
Routine edits to WordPress website within template and website guidelines.
Ensure website content is up to date.
Email Marketing:
Maintain a calendar and initiate steps in project plans for blogs and newsletter communications.
Assist in drafting, proofing, and logistical coordination with database manager.
Collaborate on mass email and newsletter communications with other department teams.
Media Relations and PR:
Research and maintain a list of local media outlet contacts.
Assist in drafting, proofing, and coordination of email outreach and engagement.
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support overall marketing objectives.
Mission Alignment:
Passion for JA mission to empower youth through programs that provide financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship education.
Ability to keep mission and community perspectives central to outreach and messaging.
Skills and Qualifications:
At least 2 years of experience in marketing or similar roles.
Graphic design skills and familiarity with Canva preferred.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Experience implementing website posts, edits, changes as needed.
Experience working in Canva or similar graphic programs.
Photography, videography, and some editing skills a plus.
Active on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Familiarity with website updates (WordPress).
Resourceful with a strong willingness to dive into projects and meet deadlines.
Media savvy, including the ability to write and re-purpose press releases.
Familiarity with audience segmented communications.
Ability to pitch decks to investors and potential investors.
Ability to engage quickly, persistently, and with a positive attitude.
Experience with and/or ability to learn CRM database and Microsoft Suite.
Must be able to lift 25 pounds and work at a computer for extended periods of time.
Must have a CA driver license and reliable transportation.
Must have reliable internet at home or other safe, remote location.
JA SoCal requires all staff to be fully vaccinated, with exceptions allowed for medical reasons or sincerely held religious beliefs.
Must have a love of design and brand.
Familiarity with SEO best practices.
