Assistant Editor (Chicago-based)
General Job Description
Weigel Broadcasting Co. has an immediate opening for an Assistant Editor. The AE will work with operations producers, content producers and post-production editors for the growing production unit at Weigel Broadcasting. The AE will be responsible for managing media assets and preparing edit projects for the production team.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ingest, name, tag and maintain a streamlined, organized database for all current and future assets, including live, studio and field-based video elements on a time-sensitive base.
- Group and sync multi-cam footage.
- Prepare projects and string out footage for editors.
- Collaborate with Operations and Production and Post Production Management to manage database development.
- Partner with senior editors on ongoing media needs.
- Execute organizational workflows for large, multi-element projects and events.
- Maintain best practices of library maintenance.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with Adobe Premiere is required.
- Proficiency in MS365 and Google Workspace.
- Experience archiving and maintaining audio/video assets.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and consistently meets deadlines.
- A natural understanding of storytelling, pacing, and the ability to assemble string outs and rough cuts.
- Strong understanding of video file management best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Ability to maintain consistency in file naming and organizational structure.
- Comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $17.00-25.00 hourly. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
