JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Communication at Wheaton College invites applications for a 1-year full-time, sabbatical replacement position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning August 2025. A Ph.D. (completed by August 2025) in Communication or a related field is preferred; ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Visiting Instructor. Candidates should have a strong commitment to the liberal arts and the ability to integrate Christian values into their teaching.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in one or more areas of communication studies, including but not limited to interpersonal, organizational, or intercultural communication. Scholars using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods are welcome to apply.
The position involves teaching undergraduate courses in communication studies, contributing to core offerings in the major. The teaching load is twelve hours per semester (equivalent to three courses), which may include courses such as diversity and culture, group communication, strategic communication, and introductory public speaking. The specific teaching assignment may be adjusted based on the applicant's specialty.
