About the team

We are the lean and ambitious team that produces all the videos for Y Combinator. With a renewed focus on high-quality storytelling and educational content, we publish weekly videos featuring startup advice, founder stories, and an exclusive look inside Y Combinator. We’re a group of technology optimists who believe entrepreneurship is one path to building a better world—the ideal candidate shares that passion and will use it to produce the most engaging and informative videos for our audience of founders.

About the role

We’re seeking a multi-talented Senior Video Producer to join as an integral part of our growing team. You’ll help build a slate of original Youtube series, collaborating closely with Y Combinator colleagues, and leading your own projects from pre-production to publication. We’re looking for people who love experimenting in a fast-paced environment, creatively embrace constraints, and are excited about building a culture of storytelling at Y Combinator.

What you’ll do

1. Craft videos and series using the technical skills you’ve honed–including research, writing, shooting, editing, design; the more you love to do the better.
2. Guide internal and external subjects (often with limited on-camera experience) through the filmmaking process.
3. Supervise freelance editors, animators, designers, and on-set crew; review their work and provide feedback in a timely manner.

What you’ll need

1. Five or more years experience creating videos in an array of styles ranging from video podcasts, educational direct-to-camera, explainers, and short documentaries.
2. Technical knowledge of cameras, lighting, and audio; you are just as comfortable shooting solo as you are directing a small crew on set.
3. Highly creative with a strong sense of visual design and storytelling.
4. Proficiency with Adobe Premiere; experience with Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Essential Graphics a big plus.
5. Very strong attention to detail, organization, and time management while balancing multiple projects at a time.
6. Experience communicating and coordinating with C-level executives and business leaders preferred.
7. Willingness to jump in wherever needed to help a shoot and the team succeed.
8. Contagious curiosity and passion for entrepreneurship and technology.

Location : This role is expected to shoot 1-2 days per week in our new 2500 sq ft video studio located at Pier 70, San Francisco. Work from home flexibility the rest of time. Domestic and international travel for shoots may be required occasionally. Candidates must live in the SF Bay Area or be willing to relocate.

Compensation : $145,000 to $180,000 salary + bonus (depending on skills and experience).
