Content creators: Flex your creativity, thrive with autonomy, and own a piece of Houston’s #1 weekend morning news!
FOX 26 in Houston is hiring a producer to plan, create, and deliver compelling, urgent, informative, and entertaining content as part of FOX 26 Morning News: Weekends. This is an ultra-competitive news town, but our weekend morning news block is consistently #1 in the market from 5am-8am on Saturdays and Sundays. We’re looking for a content rockstar who can move seamlessly from breaking news and severe weather coverage to creative news segments and live guests while setting the bar for showcasing and originality.
You’ll need a sense of urgency and mastery of the control room environment and be ready to take live coverage on linear, streaming platforms, or both at the same time. You’ll need to maintain a close relationship with our digital team to make sure everything we do is tailored for the platforms we serve and that each piece of content we create works in support of our growing digital footprint. Other skills we’re looking for include concise, accurate, and audience-focused writing skills, the ability to edit video in support of live and studio segments, plus knowledge of social media best practices.
You’ll participate in the weekend planning process along with anchors, assignment desk team members, and managers to develop future stories and segments, keeping FOX 26 ahead of all local news outlets in creating the most compelling content for our audience. You’ll also have opportunities to produce news and sports specials, field produce big events, and take on other special projects. During the week, you’ll write and create content for our 6-hour morning news block, fill in when morning producers are taking time off, and help us plan the best live digital and linear content in the market.
