What We Need:
iHeartMedia has a rare opening for a seasoned anchor/reporter on multiple stations (including WGY-AM) in multiple markets throughout the Northeast. Employee will also perform in-house reporting duties, produce content for national wire service and perform general newsroom assignments. Candidates should have high standards for audio quality, strong on-air presentation skills and the ability to write radio broadcast style copy.
What You'll Do:
- Anchor newscasts for multiple markets.
- Write clear, concise news copy.
- Produce, edit and write content for 24/7 Newswire.
- Gather audio from press conferences, live events and partner TV stations.
- Produce short-form reports (voicers/wraps) for anchors on the following shift.
- May be called on to anchor breaking news reports as needed.
- Other duties as assigned and general newsroom responsibilities.
What You'll Need:
- Expertise using Microsoft Office suite and social networking platforms.
- To be knowledgeable and up-to-date on local and national trends and/or to have specialized knowledge of subjects/events related to on-air topics.
- Pleasant, charismatic and well-controlled voice; excellent pronunciation.
- Well-rounded communication skills for conducting interviews.
- Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
- Proficiency in media production and broadcast systems.
- Ability to plan and organize, set priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- 3+ years’ experience in on-air journalism in smaller market or college station.
- 4-year college degree, preferably in Broadcast Journalism or Communications.
