Position Overview The AVP of Marketing and Distribution reports directly to the President/CEO and is a key member of the Berkley Mid-Atlantic executive leadership team. This role is responsible for strategic planning and management of marketing and distribution to ensure profitable growth. Collaborating with other departments, this position develops and executes the company's marketing strategy to maximize shareholder value and risk-adjusted returns. Lead the marketing and distribution functions for Berkley Mid Atlantic, collaborating with internal teams and external partners to drive profitable growth. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing, distribution, and communication plans. Partner with the President and peers to enhance marketing and distribution channels. Work with underwriters and sales teams to promote key messages and achieve sales targets. Maximize agency revenue through strategic business operations. Develop employees via coaching, training, feedback, and goal setting. Build partnerships with key agencies and stakeholders, including agency visits and planning. Address agency pain points and support underwriting team needs. Create and execute annual agency business plans. Utilize key metrics and reports to improve production and profitability, tracking progress against success metrics. Manage profit-sharing and incentive programs to strengthen partnerships. Oversee key agency communications, including updates and bulletins. Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Set and communicate vision, leading change and gaining commitment from peers and staff. Promote internal communication and engagement. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; advanced professional designations (CPCU, CIC) preferred. 10+ years of leadership experience in insurance marketing, preferably in multi-line commercial lines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport and problem-solve with partners and staff. Proficiency in agency prospecting, planning, incentives, and performance management. Proven success in developing and implementing measurable objectives and plans. Strategic understanding of the business environment and adaptability. Broad knowledge of the competitive landscape for commercial lines. Ability to analyze data and interpret results regionally. Leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, recruiting, and professional development. Experience managing external relationships effectively. Curiosity and analytical skills to explore various business challenges. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines across stakeholders. Willingness to travel regularly. Consistent demonstration of commitment to company values and principles.
