Key Responsibilities:Provide specialized instruction to visually impaired students in various settings, including individual, small group, and classroom environments.Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) in collaboration with other educators and specialists.Assess students' visual capabilities and educational needs, adapting teaching methods and materials accordingly.Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and school personnel to ensure a cohesive educational experience.Travel between 5 centrally located elementary, middle, and high schools, each approximately 15 minutes apart, to deliver services.Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in the field of visual impairment education.
Employment Details:Start Date: Last week of August, immediately following Labor Day.Schedule: Full-time, following the academic calendar.Student Population: The district serves 4800 students overall, with 800 students in special education, including 125 students who require specialized visual impairment services.
This is a permanent opportunity and we can pay between $85,000-$105,000 base salary.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEA valid TVI or TVSI certification or eligibility to obtain certification before employment.
Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred.
Strong understanding of the principles of orientation and mobility, as well as assistive technologies used by visually impaired individuals.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
