The Position
JOB SUMMARY This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering excellent service to library patrons. Duties include shelving returned library materials, ensuring that shelved materials are maintained properly, and assisting library patrons in their use of the facility. There are multiple positions available performing book sorting, front entrance and in the youth area.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Support the front Welcome Desk by greeting customers and answering basic questions about the library spaces and services. Assist customers in locating materials, using library equipment, and navigating resources. Assist with circulation tasks of emptying book bins as they are returned and shelving books and other materials, ensuring proper organization and adherence to classification systems. Maintain the order and cleanliness of library shelves, public areas, and workspaces. Assist with the Youth Area and welcoming users to the Kids Play Area, answering basic questions, straightening up the area as necessary and helping with the general function of the play area. Answer basic reference questions and direct more complex inquiries to appropriate staff members. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the facility and equipment. Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Cedar Park Public Library.
Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: High School Diploma or equivalent; Previous experience in a library or customer service setting is a plus. OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Sunday 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Monday 8:30 am-1:30 pm
Tuesday 8:30 am-1:30 pm
Wednesday 8:30 am-1:30 pm
Schedule B:
Thursday 8:00 am-1:00 pm
Friday 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Saturday 12:15 pm-5:15 pm
Sunday 10:00 am-3:00 pm
Supplemental Information
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge: Municipal library operations; library technology systems; and the Dewey Decimal System.
Skill/Ability: organize and maintain many materials; attention to detail; understand and follow instructions; demonstrate proficiency in oral and written communication; operate standard office equipment such as copiers, a multi-line phone system standard computer software; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
Physical Requirements: Ability to move a book cart weighing up to 50 lbs. Part Time employees who are regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week will participate in Social Security.
Part Time employees who are regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week will participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System and will receive pro-rated accrued leave including Holiday, Sick, and Vacation. For more information view our 01
