Dates Employed: Fall: August 21, 2023 – December 11, 2023; Spring: January 8, 2024 – April 30, 2024; Summer: May 6, 2024 – August 11, 2024
Purpose of position: Assist in fulfilling CSU Mission, Vision, and Goals. Provide students with opportunities to gain experience related to their educational or career objectives. Prepare future graduates to be critical thinkers, skillful communicators, and effective collaborators.
Duties: Work with ENGL 099 students in weekly in-person appointments to review grammar and build writing skills. Support students in various courses through in-person and online assistance, including interpreting assignments, brainstorming, improving thesis statements, organizing essays, and citing sources in MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian formats. Write summaries of appointments, respond to student emails, manage appointments on the scheduling system, and participate in staff meetings to develop professionally.
Rate of Pay: $8.50/hour, paid on the 15th of the month following the work performed.
Qualifications: Successful completion of ENGL 111 and ENGL 112, minimum GPA of 3.0, excellent writing skills (demonstrated by a professor nomination and writing sample), and excellent oral communication skills (demonstrated by an interview).
Schedule: Work hours will be coordinated based on the student’s class schedule. No work permitted during chapel or scheduled class times.
Evaluation Procedures: Performance will be evaluated based on ability to follow instructions, accuracy, punctuality, and professionalism, including cell phone use policies.
