Creates and executes all children’s programming for the Library. This includes a weekly pre-school program and an extensive summer program for school-age children. Also gives tours and programs to classes from schools. Searches for opportunities to connect with community partners to promote library services and resources.
Selects children’s materials appropriate for the collection.
Catalogs children’s materials and all videos.
Conducts reference interviews in person and on the phone to determine specific informational requirements of the patron. Answers patron’s reference questions or assists the patron in finding their own answer by using knowledge of the library collection, online databases, Internet, and community resources.
During assigned hours, is responsible for the check-out desk. This includes checking materials in and out, managing holds, charging fines, processing Interlibrary Loan requests, and screening calls and mail. Also, instructs and assists patrons with library computers and software.
Coordinates the library’s volunteer program. Trains and supervises volunteers in the children’s area.
Responsible for library displays and bulletin boards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and education.
- Ability to conduct library research and teach research skills.
- Experience working in a library or educational setting.
- Computer literacy and ability to teach computer skills.
- Typing speed of at least 35 wpm.
- Knowledge of children’s literature.
- Ability to work well with co-workers and the public, with a genuine love of children.
