The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Middle School Theatre/Mass Communications Teacher. The STEAM/Gifted Program fosters an environment of excellence where students engage in project-based learning to develop a deep understanding of academic content and apply their knowledge. Students are empowered to take ownership of their learning and are encouraged to question and innovate. At STEAM Middle, teachers focus on six essential competencies:

Job Summary/Purpose
Facilitate learning of curriculum and life skills that contribute to the development of mature, capable, and responsible individuals.
Essential Functions
- Respect for the uniqueness of each individual learner.
- Ability to meet the individual needs of all students to promote growth and development.
- Convey information to students through written and verbal communication.
- Encourage student ownership of behavior.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a STEAM project-based setting to produce critical thinkers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Missouri professional teaching certificates in Theatre and Mass Communication K-12.
- Gifted certification K-12 or the ability to obtain it within two years.
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Communications and/or Theatre.
- Demonstrated competency in acting, and print, radio, and television media.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Plan daily instructional activities, including lesson plans, materials, and assessments tailored to student needs.
- Implement acceleration and differentiation strategies for varied learner needs.
- Maintain high expectations and facilitate student learning as a guide.
- Use diverse teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize learning.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback to students, parents, and administrators, adjusting instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records according to policies and regulations.
- Teach the district curriculum as outlined.
- Engage in professional growth activities.
- Participate in school and district activities.
- Create a safe, attractive, and organized classroom environment that fosters community.
- Manage positive discipline in accordance with district policies and legal requirements.
- Develop strategies to encourage responsible and self-disciplined behavior.
- Collaborate respectfully and effectively with colleagues to enhance school effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
