Mills James is seeking a dynamic Audiovisual Technician to join our AV team in Mills James Pre-Professional Program. This position's primary responsibilities is set-up, operation and strike audio visual equipment at live meetings and events.
What You Will Learn :
This entry-level program allows you to directly collaborate with experienced live event professionals at Mills James in a variety of areas such as video, lighting, audio, and staging. As part of our team, you'll acquire practical skills and technical know-how using the latest equipment, while working on diverse projects.
The Mills James Pre-Professional Program provides recent college graduates an opportunity to obtain on-the-job work experience in preparation for a career in the communications and production industry. During the six-month session, often called the "audition" period, you will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week. Your skill sets need not cover the full range required for full-time associates. Displaying initiative and a willingness to learn will help you get the most out of your time in the program and add to your value in the marketplace.
At the sole discretion of Mills James, Pre-Pro associates who demonstrate outstanding skills and qualities may be offered the opportunity to continue in the program for a second six-month session. However, an individual's participation in the program will not extend beyond one year or guarantee a full-time position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Responsible for the management of daily setup and strike of the AV equipment for live shows, meetings and events;Pick up and deliver AV rental equipment as neededPerforms duties including: checking in and out of audio-visual equipment, loading equipment into vehicles,QC'ing equipment and performing basic maintenance on AV equipment, (i.e., fixing cables, soldering connectors)Maintains the equipemtn space as a clean and safe working environment; follow all safety guidelinesCommunicates equipment maintenance needs to the Mills James Warehouse Logistics ManagerCollaborates and completes special projects or other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Maintain a professional appearance and attitude in an extraordinary service environmentPossess basic knowledge of audio, video, lighting, and computers for meeting and event purposesUnderstanding signal flow is a key requirement; computer IT or video conferencing experience is a plusProven excellent client service skills, strong communication, and organizational skills - both oral and writtenExceptional attention to the details and good troubleshooting skillsProficient in Microsoft OfficeMust have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and able to drive box trucks and cargo vansAvailable to work early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends
