Location: Mapleton, IL
Duration: 24 months
Role Overview:
The Communications Specialist 3 will play a crucial role in supporting the HR team at our Mapleton facility. This position is responsible for managing various communication channels and strategies to ensure effective internal and external communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facility Communications: Handle communications related to maintenance, safety, inclement weather, crisis management, retirement celebrations, condolences, facility websites, digital signs, and SOS communications.
- Newsletter Messaging: Create and distribute newsletters featuring facility updates, photos, and community support initiatives.
- Operations AEM: Develop slides and manage logistics for operations meetings.
- Meeting Logistics: Coordinate logistics for AEMs, leader meetings, and other events.
- Special Projects: Support initiatives such as United Way, Manufacturing Day, Code of Conduct, Employee Insights, Executive Office Visits, facility pictures, and enterprise messaging.
- Communications Strategy: Develop and implement communication strategies for leaders and employees, including bulletin boards, engagement areas, and employee coalition-supported events.
- Support Employee Coalition Team & ERG Communications/Marketing: Assist with communications and marketing efforts for employee resource groups.
- Community Engagement/Sponsorship: Manage responses to community engagement requests and coordinate external speaking engagements and interviews.
- Brand Advocate: Ensure proper usage of the brand in presentations and approved product images.
- Other Duties: Perform other communication-related tasks as assigned.
Reason for Hiring:
We are looking to fill this position to address capability and capacity gaps within the current HR team and meet the high demand for internal communications.
Typical Tasks:
- Create daily start-of-shift presentation materials weekly.
- Handle planned written communications.
- Re-prioritize tasks to adapt to urgent communication needs.
Team Interaction:
- Serve as a member of the HR team.
- Interact directly with senior business partners.
Work Environment:
This role is based in the HR suite at the Mapleton manufacturing facility, which has 1,200 onsite employees.
Education & Experience Required:
- 3+ years of communications experience and/or higher education in a communications field.
- High school diploma.
Technical Skills Required:
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Fundamental graphic design skills.
Technical Skills Desired:
- Illustration or animation capabilities.
Soft Skills Required:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Ability to work with a diverse population.
- Ability to learn quickly.
