Overview
The Minnesota Judicial Branch is seeking an Audio Video Technology Specialist with the Fourth Judicial District - Hennepin County District Court.
This position provides technical support and maintenance for audio and visual systems in courtrooms, hearing rooms, and conference rooms in six courthouses across Hennepin County. Most work is located downtown Minneapolis. The role involves managing sound systems, video systems, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and ensuring that all courtroom technology functions smoothly for court proceedings. This position will ensure that courtroom operations are efficient, compliant, and secure.
This full-time, AFSCME-represented position is classified as an Information Technology Specialist II with a working title of Audio Video Specialist and is located at the Hennepin County Government Center (300 S. 6th St, Minneapolis, MN). Business hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm. Work will be primarily conducted in-person within Hennepin County and with occasional remote work opportunities. The Minnesota Judicial Branch offers a comprehensive benefits package.
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $25.78 per hour and may be higher, depending on qualifications. This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota Employee Benefits.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The following are examples of major job duties expected for this position:
- Provide onsite assistance for the sound systems including participating in inventory tracking and asset control.
- Respond to service desk tickets related to audio/visual matters; Provide on-site repair, reconfigurations, adjustments and replacement of equipment.
- Manage the digital recording systems.
- Provide demonstrations and training on use of audio/visual equipment for judicial clerks and staff. Manage the assisted listening equipment.
- Prepare written operating procedures and training in consultation with the Training and Outreach team.
- Advise management in all areas of needs, objectives and capabilities, including anticipation of future requirements and potential problems. Coordinate warranty work, maintenance agreements, and timely repair of all equipment.
- Perform testing and regular preventative maintenance.
- Create and maintain system documentation.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Audio/Visual Specialists across the Minnesota Judicial Branch to standardize audio/video technologies.
- Serve as project manager for other technology projects approved by the district as directed by the supervisor.
- Serve as the first point of contact to resolve courtroom technology issues and will work as a liaison with technology vendors to address any issues that cannot be resolved internally.
- Work is performed primarily in an office setting or courtroom setting.
- Some travel within Hennepin County will be required.
- Some lifting of moderately heavy equipment is required to handle and set up equipment in the courtroom.
Any combination of education, training, and work experience that indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below will be considered.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years relevant experience with Audio/Visual technology or Information Technology, or Technical School certificate and two years' experience in Audio/Visual technology or Information Technology.
- Valid Driver's license
- Understanding of signal processing and delivery methods for wired and wireless audio and video systems.
- Demonstrated ability to isolate component issues.
- Knowledge of, and skill in, using supported applications and their design.
- Knowledge of flowcharting, form design, and control procedures.
- Ability to meet established deadlines and commitments.
- Ability to coordinate and manage the work of vendors and other professional and technical staff.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively (orally and in writing) to end users in a manner that they can understand.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks, be flexible and tactful when working under pressure in a team environment.
- Ability to install and maintain a diverse collection of audio/video equipment in geographically separated areas.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience in configuration and basic programming within Crestron (NVX), Shure, Extron and Biamp environments.
- VoIP experience.
- Experience with Audio/Video technology within a courtroom environment
- Integration and technology project management
The expected starting salary for external candidates is at least $25.78 (range minimum) - $35.25 (range midpoint) per hour ($53,829 - $73,602 annually). The full salary range for this position is $25.78 (range minimum) - $44.71 range maximum) per hour ($53,828 - $93,354 annually). This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and are eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
