The Strategic Communications and Marketing department at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Content Creator.
About the Opportunity
The Content Creator at West Virginia University is a member of the Strategic Communications & Marketing team. This position develops photography and videography to help support central marketing efforts for key audiences to be utilized across the University's primary marketing channels including email, print, social media, web, among others. The Content Creator should be an experienced expert, capable of producing creative and strategic visual elements to reach marketing goals. They should have a clear understanding of how visual media can help marketing materials reach high-level goals.

What You'll Do:
- Develop high-quality video projects, including conducting interviews, shooting b-roll, utilizing a variety of visual techniques.
- Edit audio and video projects at an expert level, aligning these projects to overall project goals.
- Take high-level photography.
- Operate visual equipment at an expert level (e.g. cameras, audio equipment, lighting, studio setups, green screens, drones, gimbals).
- Identify ways to build WVU's visibility and enhance its reputation through innovative use of photography, videography and other visual mediums/platforms.
- Maintain an understanding of industry trends and innovative creative executions through constant research. Consider how the University could utilize these and offer them up as part of project discussions.
- Develop unique visual work that aligns with the established WVU brand guidelines and style.
- Understand and utilize available programs and tools (e.g. CatDV, SmugMug) to store files and share with team members in an efficient manner.
- Develop a constant flow of campus photography and videography to be utilized in a variety of ways (e.g. outdoor campus scenes, classroom/lab immersive content, etc.).
- Work with members of the Marketing & Brand Strategy teams to develop audience-focused visual content that helps reach marketing goals.
- Work with members of the Storytelling and Social Media teams, as needed, to create visual content, as well.
- Fully understand the University's mission, vision, values, goals and brand.
- Attend a variety of assignments and events for photo and video assets that align with project goals; this could include evening and weekend work.
- Develop strong relationships with other visual experts on campus and within the unit.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- A minimum of five (5) years of related professional experience
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated excellence in photography
- Demonstrated excellence in videography
- Demonstrated excellence in photo editing
- Demonstrated excellence in video editing
- Demonstrated experience in rapid delivery of content
- Demonstrated experience with sound editing, lighting, animation and other multimedia trends
- Demonstrated experience with Adobe software (e.g. Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Pro)
- Demonstrated ability in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships
- Experience in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy
- Experience in managing multiple projects with competing priorities
- Self-starter and can lead independently and proactively
- Ability to adhere to WVU brand guidelines
- Ability to take note of changing technology trends as it impacts creative marketing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
- Part 107C drone pilot certification
